considering how Hollywood and anime dubbers are going down the woke tubes, I think we should be looking at alternative media for our viewing pleasure till things ...smooth over, I have been into Asian dramas for a while and would love it if it became more mainstream, plenty of fun series to go around, and I just had to make a club for it.
series I have seen so far and recommend
Last cop 2: 30 years ago, Kosuke Kyogoku (Toshiaki Karasawa) was a young police officer. He went after the dangerous criminal Kagura, but had an accident and fell into a coma.
Now, 30 years later, Kosuke wakes up from his coma. He is now in his 50's and the world has completely changed. He begins to work again as a cop and partners with young detective Ryota (Masataka Kubota). Ryota is geeky and timid, while Kosuke is brash and aggressive. Their new story begins.
(series 1 has not been subbed yet so I have been unable to watch it :sad: perhaps if we make drama's more popular, we can get our subs a bit faster) but it's a fun and chaotic series that I can only describe as batshit ...and I LOVE it.
Death note: Light Yagami (Masataka Kubota) is an ordinary university student. One day, he receives a death note which changes his life. The death note awakens his warped sense of justice and genius. He becomes murderer Kira and punishes criminals.
L (Kento Yamazaki) is a well known private detective. L appears in front of Light Yagami. L defines Kira as evil and decides to catch Kira. Then N (Mio Yuki), who has a beautiful appearance but dangerous existence, appears.
(there are a few fun twists in this take on death note, so even readers of the manga/anime,movies or musical can get something fresh )
Unnatural: Mikoto Misumi (Satomi Ishihara) is a pathologist at UDI (Unnatural Death Investigation) Lab. She can't stand neglecting unnatural deaths and believes there must be a truth behind the deaths. Team members that work with her are autopsy doctor Kai Nakado (Arata Iura), recorder Rokuro Kube (Masataka Kubota), clinical test technologist Yuko Shoji (Mikako Ichikawa) and UDI director Yasuo Kamikura (Yutaka Matsushige).
They work on unnatural death cases and try to reveal the truth behind the deaths.(fun for my medical mystery fans)
A girl and three sweethearts: Misaki Sakurai (Mirei Kiritani) has not dated in a long time. She has focused on her work as a pâtissier to eventually run her own business. One day, she gets fired from work. She then meets her first love from high school Chiaki Shibasaki (Shohei Miura). Misaki Sakurai works part-time at Chiaki’s restaurant and also stays there. While she lives with Chiaki at his restaurant, she realizes that Chiaki's two younger brothers Toma (Shuhei Nomura) and Kanata (Kento Yamazaki) also live there.
(normally I DESPISE romance stories, since most are boring with the female lead being this haughty bitch, but somehow has men at her feet, but this series has a pretty cute lead who you can actually see having multiple suitors because of her sweet nature)
Ms Sherlock: Sherlock (Yuko Takeuchi) has a peculiar character flaw. She does not open her heart to strangers. She is Japanese, but was born in Britain. She now works as an investigation consultant for the police department. Wato Tachibana (Shihori Kanjiya) is an excellent surgeon and is guided by the principal of justice. Sherlock and Wato Tachibana get to know each other through a case and begin to rely on each other.(a gender-bend version of the famous tale...and it is a weird take, but it's fun, if you love sherlock holmes, give it a try!)
Designer baby: Hiroshi Chikamori is a famous doctor in physical engineering. His one week old daughter Nozomi is abducted at the hospital. Yuri Hayami (Meisa Kuroki) is a detective in a special investigation team. She is also 8 months pregnant. Inspector Himura (Satoshi Jinbo) suddenly summons Yuri and assigns her to observe Nozomi’s mother Yuko (Yumi Adachi) at the hospital. Yuri Hayami goes undercover at the hospital and works with Detective Fukuske Dobashi (Daichi Watanabe) who takes the identity of her husband.
Doctor Susami (Atsuro Watabe) doesn't have an alibi for the time period when the baby was kidnapped. Yuri suspects Doctor Susami. Meanwhile, the kidnapper calls and reveals a ransom demand.(a mystery with an adorable infant at it's center)
Dr kounodori : Sakura Konotori (Go Ayano) is a gynecologist and also a pianist known as "Baby." He is the leader of a ob-gyn team and respected by his peers.
One day, he begins to play the piano at a club in Tokyo. 10 minutes later, he stops playing and takes a call from the hospital on whether to accept a pregnant woman. He rushes to the hospital. The pregnant woman has never had an examination and the hospital isn't even sure how many months she has been pregnant. Sakura decides to accept the pregnant woman even though there is high risk. He asks the Neonatology team for help. Takayuki Imahashi (Nao Omori) is the leader of the Neonatology team and he prepares for the woman to give birth. if you love babies watch this, babies galore)
Hospital ship: Drama series depicts the story of young doctors who provide medical service to island residents via a hospital ship.
Song Eun-Jae (Ha Ji-Won) is a capable surgeon at a large hospital in Seoul. She works very hard at her job and will become the youngest female chief surgeon there. Song Eun-Jae is burdened with responsibility over her mother and younger sibling. Her mother lives on an island with her aunt. Her mother sometimes sends patients to the hospital where Song Eun-Jae works, which brings trouble for her. (never finished this one but want to get started with it again)
Limit: Konno (Nanami Sakuraba) is a high school student. She belongs to the the most powerful group in the class, which is led by Sakura Himezawa, so she can have a peaceful school life. One day, on the way to a school exchange event, a school bus driver dies due to overwork. The bus goes off a cliff.
Including Sakura Himezawa, a majority of Konno's classmates die in the accident. Only 5 girls including Konno survive. The other four survivors are Kamiya (Tao Tsuchiya), Haru (Ayano Kudo), Arisa (Rio Yamashita) and Chikage Usui. These five girls have to survive and during their struggles they express their feelings which they have held inside. (based on a manga, a must-watch for horror peeps)
Kiss that kills: Otaro Dojima (Kento Yamazaki) works as a popular host. Because of a past incident, he believes that love makes people unhappy. He now only pursues money and power.
A mysterious woman appears in front of Otaro Dojima. The mysterious woman has a pale face with red lips. She kisses him and he dies, but the next moment he regains consciousness. He realizes he is now 7 days in the past. The mysterious woman also follows him. Due to her kiss, Otaro Dojima dies and goes back to the past over and over again. (this series is horror-romance and an interesting ride for sure!)
